Frequently Asked Questions

Helpful answers before you request an estimate.

Every site is different, but these answers explain the major decisions involved in a turf project.

How long does artificial turf last?

Artificial turf is designed to provide years of beauty and performance with very little maintenance. Most premium residential artificial turf lasts 15–20 years when professionally installed and properly maintained. Factors such as foot traffic, pets, weather, and the quality of the turf can affect its lifespan. At No Stress Turf, we use high-quality materials and proper installation techniques to help maximize the life of your investment.

Does turf get hot?

Artificial turf can become warmer than natural grass during direct sunlight, especially on hot summer days. However, many modern turf products are designed with cooling technologies to help reduce surface temperatures. If desired, simply spraying the turf with water for a few minutes can quickly cool it down. We can also recommend turf options that are designed to stay cooler in North Carolina’s climate.

Can weeds grow through it?

Professional installation greatly reduces the chance of weeds. We install a commercial-grade weed barrier beneath the turf and prepare the base properly to minimize weed growth. While an occasional airborne weed seed may sprout on the surface, it is usually easy to remove by hand or with a quick treatment.

How is pet turf cleaned?

Artificial turf is an excellent option for pet owners. Solid waste is removed just as you would from a natural lawn, while liquid waste drains through the turf into the prepared base below. Periodically rinsing the turf with water helps keep it clean, and pet-safe turf infill can be used if needed to control odors. We can also recommend turf products specifically designed for homes with dogs.

Do you offer financing or a warranty?

We are currently evaluating financing options to provide additional flexibility for our customers. We offer a one year limited warranty on fabrication and installation to ensure your turf is free from defects in workmanship. Material warranty will depend on the product chosen for you project. During your estimate, we’ll be happy to discuss the products we recommend and answer any questions about long-term performance and care.

Can you install over concrete?

Yes, in many cases artificial turf can be installed over concrete. This is a popular option for patios, balconies, rooftop spaces, and some commercial applications. Proper drainage and surface preparation are important to ensure the best results. During your free estimate, we’ll evaluate your existing surface and recommend the best installation method.

Is artificial turf safe for children and pets?

Yes. Modern artificial turf is designed to provide a clean, durable surface for families and pets. Many turf products are made with non-toxic materials and are ideal for backyards, playgrounds, and pet areas.

Does artificial turf require maintenance?

Artificial turf requires far less maintenance than natural grass. There is no mowing, watering, fertilizing, or reseeding. Occasional brushing, rinsing, and removing leaves or debris will help keep your lawn looking its best.

Will artificial turf increase my home’s value?

Artificial turf can improve curb appeal and reduce ongoing lawn maintenance costs, making outdoor spaces more enjoyable year-round. While every property is different, many homeowners appreciate the attractive appearance and convenience of a professionally installed artificial lawn while saving money on water, weeding, mowing and other standard maintenance costs.
